<li>Among pupils not entitled to free school meals, there are only small differences in the proportion not getting five <span class="caps">GCSE</span>s by ethnicity.</li>
<li>By contrast, among pupils eligible for free school meals, the proportion who are not White British not getting five <span class="caps">GCSE</span>s is only half the proportion for White British pupils.</li>
<li>This pattern is by no means unique to London - White British pupils on free schoool meals right across England are more likely to lack 5 <span class="caps">GCSE</span>s than other pupils are.</li>

            <description><![CDATA[

<li>Children from more deprived backgrounds in London are more likely to reach required  levels of educational attainment than similarly poor children in the rest of England.</li>
</ul>




<ul>
<li>At age 11, a lower proportion of children receiving free school meals in Inner London (34%) and Outer London (40%) do not attain key skills in Maths and English than similarly disadvantaged pupils elsewhere (47%).</li>
</ul>




<ul>
<li>At age 16, a lower proportion of children receiving free school meals do not get 5 good <span class="caps">GCSE</span>s in Inner London (31%) than in Outer London (35%) or the rest of England (44%).</li>
</ul>




<ul>
<li>However a higher proportion of children not receiving free school meals in Inner London, both boys (28%) and girls (22%), do not get 5 good <span class="caps">GCSE</span>s than pupils elsewhere in England (24% of boys, 18% of girls).</li>
</ul>




<ul>
<li>By 2010, a lower proportion of 19 year olds lacked Level 3 qualifications (2 A levels or equivalent) in Inner London (48%) and Outer London (43%) than in the rest of the country (50%).</li>
</ul>




<ul>
<li>The eight boroughs with the highest proportions of 19 year olds lacking a Level 3 qualification are in the Inner East &amp; South and Outer East &amp; North East.</li>
