Key points

  • About 30% of households in Camden were overcrowded, as were a similar proportion in Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Tower Hamlets.
  • This compares to about 5% in the Outer London boroughs of Bromley, Bexley and Havering.
  • In general, Inner London boroughs have a higher proportion of overcrowded households than Outer London.

What do these graphs show?

With just two exceptions, boroughs in Inner London had a higher proportion of overcrowded households than boroughs in Outer London.

About 30% of households in Camden were overcrowded, as were a similar proportion in Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Tower Hamlets. This compares to about 5% in the Outer London boroughs of Bromley, Bexley and Havering.

There were nine Inner London boroughs in which a quarter or more of households were overcrowded. There were no such boroughs in Outer London.
